The bank is watching: NVIDIA’s new AI models want to predict your every purchase
Picture this: It’s 2:04 AM. You’re at a gas station waiting for a delayed train in the freezing cold. To you, it’s a late-night mistake; to NVIDIA and your bank, it’s a high-dimensional data point that needs to be analyzed by a "transaction foundation model."
We’ve officially moved past simple fraud alerts. NVIDIA just announced that financial institutions are ditching their old, "siloed" task-specific models for massive, unified transformer architectures. It’s the same tech that powers ChatGPT, but instead of writing mediocre poetry, it’s obsessing over your credit score and whether that midnight snack fits your "unified representation of consumer behavior."
Leading the charge is Revolut, which worked with NVIDIA to build PRAGMA. This family of models was trained on a staggering 24 billion events across 26 million users. Tadas Kriščiūnas, Revolut’s head of group credit data science, says they’ve moved from "weeks or even months in feature engineering to no time required at all." In plain English: the AI is now smart enough to figure out your spending habits without a human holding its hand.
Mastercard and Stripe are also deep in the mix. Stripe claims it blocked $112 billion in fraud last year using similar tech, while Mastercard is scaling its proprietary model to hundreds of billions of transactions. But the real kicker—and the part that should make you squint—is the move toward "agentic commerce."
Forty-two percent of financial firms are already testing AI that doesn't just watch, but acts. We’re talking about systems that manage your subscriptions, route payments, and make purchases on your behalf. I'd say it's very likely: how long before your bank’s AI decides you’ve had enough late-night snacks for one month and "optimizes" your account by freezing your card for your own good?
If the thought of an all-knowing financial deity gives you the creeps, NVIDIA has a high-fidelity distraction for you in the form of cloud gaming. The June forecast for GeForce NOW is out, and it’s leaning heavily into the supernatural. The headliner is Neverness to Everness (NTE), a surreal open-world metropolis where reality bends and "anomaly hunters" chase cosmic oddities through impossible streetscapes.
It looks atmospheric as hell, especially with NVIDIA’s cloud-powered lighting tech. It’s joined by the Gothic 1 Remake, a faithful rebuild of the 2001 cult classic that lets you explore the Valley of Mines without needing to download a single gigabyte. There are 18 games hitting the service this month, including Jurassic World Evolution 3 and The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition.
